Microsurgery of Skull Base Paragangliomas

The aim of this book is to detail the complex management of head and neck paragangliomas. While these are comparatively rare tumors, their management represents the pinnacle of skull base surgery, and the principles highlighted are instructive for the management of all head and neck and skull base pathologies. Unlike most surgical publications of this type, the presented pathologies dictate the descriptions of the required management. The reader will be able to identify a particular lesion of a particular stage, and follow step-by-step the assessment, pre-operative management, and intra-operative course as if they were the treating surgeon. Particular tips, pitfalls, and complications will be especially highlighted at the end of each chapter. As the basic structure, the book includes extensive anatomic, radiologic, and intra-operative images correlated to schematic diagrams to enable the reader a thorough understanding of this complex topic. The images are drawn from a collection of radiologic and intra-operative data and images collected over the last 20 years, which also allows the analysis and utilization of a significant volume of information.
