Robert A. Meyers obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of California at Los Angeles. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the California Institute of Technology and has more than 17 patents, 50 technical papers and 12 books to his name. For this project he is supported by eleven Nobel Laureates together five additional advisory board members. As Editor-in-Chief he conceived and edited several ambitious multivolume reference works, e.g. the Encyclopedia of Analytical Chemistry (Wiley), the preceding Encyclopedia of Molecular Biology and Molecular Medicine (VCH) and the Encyclopedia of Physical Science and Technology (Academic Press). DESCRIPTION "This series is a classic..."-Molecular Medicine Today/Trends in Molecular Medicine The second edition of this highly acclaimed, sixteen-volume Encyclopedia now contains 150 new articles and extended coverage of cell biology. It is thus the most comprehensive and most detailed treatment of molecular biology, cell biology and molecular medicine available today -- designed in collaboration with a founding board of 10 Nobel laureates. As such, the Encyclopedia provides a single-source library of the molecular basis of life, with a focus on molecular medicine, discussing in detail the latest advances of the post-genomic era. Each of the approximately 425 articles is written as a self-contained treatment, beginning with an outline and a key word section plus definitions. Peer-reviewed, they are written in a review-like style, complemented by an extensive bipartite bibliography of reviews and books as well as primary papers. A glossary of basic terms completes each volume and defines the most commonly used terms in molecular biology. Together with the introductory illustrations found in each volume, the articles are comprehensible for readers at every level without resorting to a dictionary, textbook, or other reference. Praise for the first edition: "...an authoritative reference source of the highest quality. ... It is extremely well written and well illustrated..."-American Reference Books Annual (Library & Information Science Annual) "This series can be recommended without hesitation to a broad readership including students and qualified researchers...articles...set-up facilitates easy reading and rapid understanding...overwhelming amount of valuable data."-Molecular Biology Reports "...highly valuable and recommendable both for libraries and for laboratory use."-FEBS Letters TABLE OF CONTENTS TOPICS and Subtopics: NUCLEIC ACIDS. Book condition
An important factor of a second-hand book is the condition of the book. The buyer may not be surprised. Always mention damages or defects. We use a system with 3 stars:
The book is acceptable: you have used it to study and made notes and markings – but everything is still readable. The cover and pages are in good condition.
The book still looks good: there are a few notes in it and you marked it. There are hardly any signs of use on the cover and pages
The book is (almost) new: you have not written or marked in it. There are no signs of use on the cover and pages
